North Wales

The North Wales area group covers the six North Wales counties of Wrexham, Flintshire, Denbighshire, Conwy, Gwynedd & Ynys Môn, which is a total area of over 2,300 square miles and makes it the largest regional group by area covered. Our Responders come from all of these counties and also in Lancashire, Cheshire, Wirral and Shropshire.

This area mirrors the jurisdictions of North Wales Police (NWP), North Wales Fire & Rescue (NWFRS), the North Wales Council Regional Emergency Planning Services (NWC-REPS) and the North Wales Welsh Ambulance Service Trust for Non-Emergency Patient Transport Services (WAST-NEPTS).

We have agreements with each of the above organisations for providing assistance during times of adverse weather and other emergencies, including the towing of NWP Emergency Incident trailers and for assisting NWFRS with wildfire and flood support.

The group is led by a management team who arrange member inductions, training, deployments and social activities. This team also manages the relationships with each of our clients and keeps us in regular contact with the key emergency managers in each organisation.

We produce a quarterly newsletter and you can see the current and past copies here

We currently have 4 Incident Controllers who manage deployments for our clients when these are required. Recent call-outs have included heavy snow falls in Wrexham, floods and food deliveries in Denbighshire and vehicle recoveries in Gwynedd.

We are members of, and active within, the North Wales Local Resilience Forum Humanitarian Aid & Volunteer Group (NWLRF – HAVG) and are members of a number of the North Wales Voluntary Services Councils.

Group meetings are held reasonably regularly at various locations for training, meeting clients, visiting external agencies such as Mountain Rescue, Coastguard or Lifeboat teams and also for purely social gatherings either out in our vehicles or for festive events. You can contact us on our Facebook page to find out more.

We exhibit a presence at a number of county, village and other Summer shows to publicise our activities, provide winter advice to the public, to recruit new members and to raise funds (of which we never have enough!). We also give talks to local groups and clubs who make contact with us.

We are very grateful to our many valued partners across North Wales who support us with their time, resources, knowledge and experience or who simply allow us to use their premises for our activities. Please support them when the opportunity arises.

If you are a local group or charity that might need some help from us, for example to provide a trailer to move some equipment or to help you marshal an event please contact us via our Facebook page. We may be able to help by including your event or task into one of our training exercises.
