The Powys Group was the original 4×4 Response Wales group set up in 2005 with just 6 members. Covering just over 2000 square miles it is probably the largest Group area but with the lowest population density.
The Group has operating agreements with the key authorities, healthcare, and social service providers in the county providing logistical support as and when required.
The Group is represented on the Dyfed Powys LRF Severe Weather Group through which it maintains close contacts with the emergency planners within the Emergency Services, Health Authorities and public utilities.
The area is home to several of the key training facilities for the Wales Group and the Powys team regularly support and organise Training activities for all Wales members.
The Group has monthly meetings near Welshpool where members get an opportunity to catch up on news and events and occasionally visit clients and partners for demonstrations and presentations. It is hoped that during 2020 a regular monthly meeting will be started in the Brecon area for members in the southern part of the county.
During the Spring and Summer period the Team can be found supporting various events and shows across the county and helping to marshal at charity and fundraising events. Throughout the year, the Group interacts with various other charities and organisations to provide mutual support and assistance.
